UK gov gives public sector approval for Samsung  KNOX

The UK government has released a security support for using Samsung KNOX on choose Samsung smartphones and tablets, giving the devices a stamp of approval for public sector use.

The choice follows months of screening by the Communications and Electronic devices Security Group (CESG), a UK body charged with addressing communications security.

The End User Gadget Security Guidance affects Samsung devices with Android 4.3 and Samsung’s business security platform KNOX, which provides improved hardware and software application protection, gadget security, per-app VPN ability, and a secure app establishment.

Samsung gadgets available in the UK that are covered by the guidance include the Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, and Galaxy S5.

The step follows previous CESG accreditation for Samsung devices with Android 4.2.2, US Department of Defense approval for KNOX, and Mobile Devices Fundamentals Security Profile Common Criteria Accreditation for the Samsung Galaxy range.
